How much does it cost to change a Louisiana license plate to a Texas plate.& How much time do you have?

Me and my husband just moved to Houston from Louisiana. while i know its not an emergency… It will need to be done one day. and i ws wondering if anyone knew how much it will cost & HOw long we have till it has to be done.
