Cheap Car Insurance For Women in Louisiana

Reader’s Question:

Hi! I am a single mother and I want to have my own car insurance. I want a cheap car insurance policy since I have other priorities to spend on. What are the things I should do so I can qualify for one?

Melody

New Orleans, LA

You are fortunate to be a female driver because Louisiana car insurance companies give more discounts to female drivers than their male counterparts. Female drivers get bigger discounts because statistics say that they are involved in fewer car collisions and traffic violations, hence they are lower risk compared to male drivers. But that is not your only advantage in getting cheap car insurance women Louisiana.

You can get car insurance if you can prove to any car insurance provider that you are a skilled driver. Hence, enrolling in any driving school that is recognized by most car insurers should certify that you are skilled enough to drive your own vehicle.

You can also buy cheap car insurance for women Louisiana if you can prove to the company that you know how to pay your obligations on time. If you have a good credit standing, then you can qualify for cheaper car insurance because car insurers give discounts to those who know how to pay their bills such as car insurance premiums on time.

Raise your deductible amount to the highest level you feel comfortable with. The higher the amount, the lower your annual premiums will be.  You only pay the deductible when you file a claim and your carrier pays that claim.

Medicare or Private Health Insurance in Louisiana?

Reader’s Question:

I already have my own health insurance policy and will still be active. I am already 65 and I am being forced into Medicare in Baton Rouge. Why is that?

Martina

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Thanks for that question, Martina.

All Americans who are 65 years old or over are eligible for Medicare and those who have Social Security benefits are automatically enrolled in Medicare too. You cannot opt out either, or else if you do not enroll in Medicare Part A you will forfeit your Social Security benefits. There is a great number of speculations why this is so but until today, there is no definite and clear answer to this. The way I see it, maybe it was made so such that seniors will find it easy for seniors to enroll in Medicare and did not discontinue when private health insurance coverage became very common for most seniors. We never know if it will change, but since it is the rule at the moment, we cannot disregard and might not be likely to change in the near future.

There are many companies though in Louisiana that offer retiree health benefits that will terminate coverage when you turn 65 because they know that you have access to Medicare at this age. Although you are not forced by the government to choose between Social Security and your private health insurance coverage, the government will be deciding for you in this case.

Although in some cases too, some companies will continue to offer supplemental retiree benefits which can be used together with your Medicare. Among these benefits may include prescription drug coverage, doctor visits, and outpatient health care services. In such cases, Medicare still stands as the primary coverage and you can have your own private health insurance as supplemental coverage.

Do You Need Help With Term Life Insurance in Louisiana?

Reader’s Question:

I did not understand when my life insurance agent in Baton Rouge, Louisiana talked about term life insurance. What is it?

Trent,

Baton Rouge, LA

The term life insurance that is available in Louisiana and is one of the basic types of life insurance coverage. This is a form of life insurance that is governed by a certain period of time. The period of time which you can choose from may start from five years, ten years, fifteen years or even thirty years and even until you reach the age of 65 years old or even 70 years old. It all really depends on which time period you desire to get. The payment for the policy will not usually rise during the course of the policy.

If ever the insured dies within the given term period, the benefactors will be receiving cash death assistance. But if, you, the insured survived and surpassed the term period, you can choose to maintain your yearly coverage and restart a new premium by paying a much higher one. With this type of life insurance, it will also give you an option of changing your policy to a permanent policy without undergoing another medical examination with your family doctor. It also does not accumulate any values such as those related with Whole Life Insurance policies.
